Jazz Band

The Jazz Ensemble is an audition-only ensemble which meets during the school day. It is a requirement that all wind players (sax/trombone/trumpet) must also enroll in a concert ensemble (Symphonic or Wind Ensemble) in order to be eligible to participate. This ensemble may play at concerts and “gigs” throughout the community. We will discuss topics surrounding the world of jazz and popular music, including the performance of a wide variety of musical genres, jazz vocabulary, and improvisation. The Jazz Ensemble will explore many styles of music, including but not limited to big band swing, Latin jazz, rock, pop, funk, etc.
